Abbey Theatre:
110 Years

Art Direction and Graphic Design by Mark O’Brien & Stephen Ledwidge

In 2014, Zero-G partnered with the Abbey Theatre to create a number of installations for a significant milestone in their rich history.

Those representing the theatre wished to illustrate the building’s connection to social, political & cultural events since 1904. We designed a printed timeline, highlighting key events from the Abbey’s 110 year history, which was mounted along the building’s main staircase. Visitors to the theatre were invited to participate in remembering their own “moments” by contributing to the a secondary display, situated in the lobby.

A short video was recorded on a single morning in Dublin City. Theatre actors and ordinary people of Dublin were asked to recite a passage from Sean O’Casey’s Juno and The Paycock, in an effort to pay tribute not only to the value of theatre, but to the people who make up the fabric of Dublin City.
